The automatic parcel opener - Box Opening System (BOS) uses cutting technology to open parcels and cartons - without presorting - up to 600 units / hour or 14,000 units / day.
Occupational safety
Compared to manual opening, the machine does not need a break for goods and returns receipt, nor does its speed drop over time - and there is no downtime due to work, illness or holidays.
Four different types of cut
The complete cut creates a removable lid.
For companies where the packages are initially transported closed, the partial cut is suitable. This leaves small webs in each corner, which keeps the goods protected until the worker completely separates the lid.
With the hinge cut, three sides are opened, one side remains closed so that the top can be opened. - Shipping papers remain intact.
Longitudinally glued folding cartons are opened with the tape cut.
Package sizes of the machine for incoming goods and returns
Package sizes from L x W x H: 160 x 140 x 80 mm to 600 x 600 x 400 mm can be processed with the model 664 without prior sorting. The BOS system for incoming goods and returns recognises the dimensions automatically. For this purpose, the cartons are first fed to the BOS one after the other on a roller conveyor.
There, they are clamped laterally by a slider and their height is measured by a sensor so that the cut can be made accordingly. The sensor also follows the opening process and detects when the process is complete. As soon as a package is opened, it is pushed further and a sensor releases the next package for transport to the cutting station.
Thanks to the standardised roller conveyor, the system can be easily integrated into existing transport lines with depalletisers, carton inspection systems, removal robots, etc.
The BOS standard size is 664, but the system is also available for smaller or larger carton sizes; e.g. version 865 for cartons up to a maximum LxWxH of 800 x 600 x 500 mm.
Technology
The cutting depth can be continuously adjusted from 4 - 11 mm on the cutting tools, depending on the package / cardboard thickness, so that the contents are not damaged. Since the machine has - optionally - a magazine for four such cutter heads (each with four knives), several different cutting depths can also be pre-configured for a wide range of cardboard types to be processed. The operator can then select the appropriate tool on the display.
